  এই পর্বে গল্পটি একটি ঐতিহাসিক ভূমিকা থেকে ধীরে ধীরে রোমাঞ্চ ও রহস্যে ঢুকে যায়। শুরুতেই ইজিপ্ট বা মিশরের পরিচয়, তার প্রায় 5000 বছরেরও বেশি পুরনো ইতিহাস, নাইল নদের ধারে গড়ে ওঠা সভ্যতা, ফেরাউদের সাম্রাজ্য, গিজার পিরামিড, স্ফিংকস আর রোজেটা স্টোনের প্রসঙ্গ তুলে এক ধরনের বিস্ময় ও আকর্ষণের আবহ তৈরি করা হয়েছে, যেন পাঠক/শ্রোতাকে আগে ইজিপ্টের জগতে ঠেলে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়।​ এরপর গল্প ঘুরে যায় বর্তমানের তিন বাঙালি বন্ধুর দিকে – পল্লব, রাজু আর স্বর্ণময় – যারা প্রথমবারের মতো বিদেশযাত্রায় কলকাতা থেকে ইতিহাদ এয়ারলাইন্স ধরে কায়রোতে আসে এবং রাজুর মামার বাড়িতে ওঠার কথা থাকে। তাদের ট্রানজিট, কায়রো এয়ারপোর্ট থেকে শহরে মেট্রো ধরে যাওয়া, মামার গাড়িতে করে ফ্ল্যাটে ওঠা—এসব জায়গায় একদিকে প্রথম বিদেশ ভ্রমণের উৎসাহ, অন্যদিকে মামার দায়িত্ববোধ (বোনের বারবার বলে যাওয়া “ওদের সাবধানে দেখিস”) খুব স্বাভাবিক বাস্তব পরিবেশ তৈরি করে।​ এই স্বাভাবিকতার মাঝখানেই হঠাৎ টান তৈরি হয়: ঠিক ফ্ল্যাটে ঢোকার মুহূর্তে মামার ফোন আসে, আর তখনই চার অতিথির দিকে ধোঁয়া বোমা ছোড়া হয়, ধোঁয়ার মধ্যে থেকে একটি কড়া/করাত...
